At Stanford Family Dental - Dr. Jamie Paychev DDS, we offer Invisalign, an orthodontic treatment that straightens teeth without using metal braces. Instead, it uses a series of custom-made, clear aligners to fit your mouth. The aligners are removable and virtually invisible, making them popular among teens and adults who want to improve their smile without wearing traditional braces.
The Invisalign system consists of clear, plastic aligners that gradually move your teeth into the desired position. Each aligner in the series is worn for about two weeks before they need to be replaced by the next one. Every two weeks or so, you will switch to a new aligner. This continues until your treatment is complete.
Our dentist in Menlo Park, CA, will first take X-rays and impressions of your mouth to create a treatment plan. These impressions are then sent to the lab where your custom aligners will be made. Once they arrive, our dentist will fit you for the first set and provide instructions on how to wear them. You must wear them for at least 22 hours daily and only remove them to eat, drink, brush, and floss.
As you progress through your series of aligners, you will notice changes in your smile as your teeth shift into place. Most patients complete their treatments in about one year. However, the length of your treatment will depend on your specific needs.
After treatment, you must wear a retainer to keep your teeth in place. Our dentist will provide a custom retainer designed to fit your new smile. You should wear it as directed by our dentist to maintain your results.
